Internet Explorer History Overview

The Internet Explorer History feature makes it easy to find and return to Web sites and pages you have visited. Whether it is today or a few days ago, the History can record every page you visit, so it is easy to go back later on. Internet Explorer automatically records every Web pages you have visited.

Internet Explorer stores history in the index.dat files inside history folder. Default path to this folder is:

Windows 2000 / XP
"C:\Documents and Settings\UserName\Local Settings\History\History.IE5".

Windows 98
"C:\Windows\History\History.IE5".
